As a result of the COVID-19 crisis, this role would involve working remotely until the team eventually transition back to working from the Edinburgh office.

Scope of role:

Forrit are seeking an experienced Test Automation Engineer to join a growing test team to work primarily on a large-scale cloud-first content management system. The ideal candidate would have demonstrable experience working in automation testing roles. They should be comfortable working embedded in a .NET development team and be able to demonstrate their experience in automating testing in a variety of different testing disciplines. The candidate should be excited to help the QA team gain experience in automation and help bridge the current knowledge gap. The candidate will be expected to work with the QA manager in identifying, implementing and maintaining an automation framework within our current development pipelines.

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Working with the QA manager and development teams, responsible for delivery of automation frameworks across all projects in development
  • Plan and implement automation frameworks for new projects
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to existing automation suites across all projects
  • Implementing functional and non-functional automation for the Forrit platform
  • Working closely with existing QA staff members to train and develop their automation skillsets
  • Be excited to take on a leadership role on test automation within the company

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience in Selenium or similar UI automation frameworks
  • Hands-on experience in NUnit + C# test creation and execution or similar
  • Hands-on experience in API testing or similar
  • Hands-on experience integrating automated tests into Azure DevOps CI/CD processes
  • Experience in coaching peers with various automation techniques and implementations
  • Track record of identifying opportunities for automation within software processes and gather requirements from end-users to develop the best automation solutions
  • Experience in using test design techniques and of performing and applying risk analysis to identify test types and test coverage
  • Excellent understanding with applications built with the following frameworks
    • Angular
    • .Net(Core, MVC, WebForms)
    • HTML
    • JavaScript
  • Understanding of non-functional testing (Performance and Security) needs for the application and coordinate with relevant teams is desirable
  • Excellent knowledge of Agile and scrum
  • Good knowledge of CMS Systems
  • Good understanding of defect tools such as Jira and Azure DevOps
  • Excellent and careful attention to detail
  • Collaborate across teams to understand how automation can improve product
  • Collaborates and communicates well, builds great working relationships, influences others, challenges effectively and responds well to challenge from others, shares information and ideas with others, has good listening skills
  • A curious, observant and intuitive explorer who is capable of the setup, exercise and checking of test scenarios against the system-under-test
  • A commitment to quality and a thorough approach to work

Experience:

  • Significant level of experience in development and execution of test suites and test plans
  • High level of experience in building and improving automated test frameworks
